Mid 1800's Pie Safe

2,695.00

USA, Mid 1800’s, Pie Safe. Tin punched doors. Tall skinny legs, beautiful wood, three shelfs.

The pie safe was used to store not only pies, but also meat, bread, and other perishables. Pie safes are ordinarily made with long legs to keep it away from the floor to protect them from vermin and insects. The tin punched doors allow ventilation and cooling for pies. Many of the patterns punched into the tin indicated the territory the pie safe was made in or a symbol of the craftsman that constructed the Pie Safe.
